General Conference

I thought General Conference was great. We say that every year (or, more accurately, twice every year), but it is always true. The major theme that I saw emerge was a general need to do more. At least I felt consistently motivated to work harder at work, to do more community service, to become more educated, to do more missionary-related activities, to put more into my church calling (when I get one), etc. Maybe that's just what I needed to take away from Conference because of my own personal sloth, but it seemed to be a recurring theme. Anyway, there were plenty of great talks, and I'll enjoy listening to them again on my ipod over the next few months (http://www.lds.org/conference/sessions/display/0,5239,49-1-646,00.html).

I can see the "do more" theme now that you mention it, especially in Pres. Hinckley's comments.

The theme I noticed was that a lot of talks seemed to be directed to the youth. That's nothing unusual, but for some reason that stood out to me. Which is also weird because I'm not really one of the youth nor do I have youth who can understand conference!

it's interesting that we each get what we need out of conference. I thought that the need for patience and understanding was talked about alot and also that we can put our trials on the Lords shoulders and then carry on .
I love to look at your blog Ian- you are amazing!
Check in on whitneys blog-Roman is so stinking cute!

I guess this confirms one thing: that I got the "get up and do more" theme out of conference because I am slothful. But if that's the case, then I guess that means Cblakes is too old and needs to be more childish.

Carol, I'm glad you like my blog! I think its a great way to stay in touch with people, especially those you don't get to see very often. Whitney's blog is great, too. I'll have to add it to my blogroll. I can't believe how big Roman is.

Being Ian's wife I totally disagree with Ian's "slothfulness." He is quite the opposite. He will be upset if I go into greater detail. He is on a much higher spirtitual plane than I could ever hope to be. That's why I married him (one of the many reasons). He makes me want to be a better person. In all things, especially spiritual.
